Members of the Keck Lab volunteer with the SMART Teams program (Students Modeling A Research Topic) serving as mentors. The program recruits local high school students to design, build, and present a molecular model of a protein and explain the mechanism of how it functions. The SMART Teams program originated in the Milwaukee area but has since spread to the national level.
